Mild In May event

Sunday 15 March 2026

The Dudley and South Staffordshire and Wolverhampton branches of CAMRA are teaming up to host the regional Mild in May event this year.

Both branches are celebrating their half centuries in 2026.

Branch members and CAMRA members from across the West Midlands are invited to join in on a trail on Saturday, May 9 utilising the No 1 bus route which runs between Dudley and Tettenhall Wood.

The route features many Good Beer Guide pubs from the two branches. In Dudley it starts opposite the Malt Shovel in Tower Street, which has just been announced as runner-up in the branch pub of the year competition.

In Upper Gornal it stops near the Britannia and Jolly Crispin and in Sedgley the Swan, Bull's Head, Clifton, Stump/Mount Pleasant and Beacon Hotel - home of Sarah Hughes Brewery's Dark Ruby MIld, are on or near the route. Pubs along the route are being invited to put on milds for the weekend of the trail and Holden's and Bathams milds, brewed locally, should be available.

For CAMRA members coming from outside the two branch areas the No 1 can easily be accessed from Wolverhampton railway and bus stations and the West Midlands Metro line.

More details of Mild in May will be confirmed nearer to the time.

The Dudley and South Staffordshire branch has also decided to use the day to offer a thank you to volunteers at last year's Dudley Winter Ales Fayre. The Stump/Mount Pleasant in High Street, Sedgley, will be open specially on the day between 12 noon and 3pm when volunteers will be able to get a number of free pints and food.

Volunteers will be contacted with full details and asked to confirm that they can attend.

The branch hopes they will also take the opportunity to visit many of our Black Country pubs that they may not have had the opportunity to visit when helping to man the 2025 festival.
