Bird In Hand57 John Street
Dudley and South Staffordshire Community Pub of the Year 2019. Homely and not far from the Red House Cone and old glassworks. The current manageress, Paula Herbert, inherited a thriving wet-led local's pub from the outgoing publican towards the end of 2017. The number of handpulls increased to accommodate three guest beers. Although local breweries such as Wye Valley and Olde Swan are particularly popular, the guest beers are also sourced nationally including Ossett group and Tiny Rebel beers.
As you enter the pub, use the door on the right if you wish to be seated in the quieter, comfortable lounge or use the door on the left if you prefer a more traditional bar experience where you will also find a dart board and a television showing sport. At the rear is a surprisingly large, well-maintained garden and a sheltered extension. Various themed events are advertised by posters and the pub's Facebook page, such as, charity darts and cheese nights. There is a small function room at the rear which can be hired on a regular or a one-off basis.
